our story

Baked in the D, with a whole lot of love

Detroit Cookie Co. started with a girl in her mom's kitchen and grew into two Metro Detroit cookie shops packed with flavors you can only find here. This is how the Cookie Lady got her name.

Meet the Cookie Lady

Chapter 1 · Mom's kitchen

Lauren Roumayah grew up in a home where her mother loved to spread love through food. She was always in the kitchen watching her mom cook and bake, and her fondest memories are the countless batches of holiday cookies, and the way family and friends lit up when the cookies arrived. Baking quickly became her passion.

Chapter 2 · Wayne State

After high school Lauren studied Fashion Merchandising at Wayne State University and fell in love with the city and every flavor running through the heart of Detroit. So she started baking Detroit products right into her cookies, and her classmates became her official taste-testers. They kept demanding more, and she instantly became "the Cookie Lady."

Chapter 3 · Every cookie since

Her favorite part of baking has always been the love and happiness she sees when someone bites into a fresh cookie. That passion is baked into every Detroit Cookie Co. cookie, and it's why they're so dang delicious.
